GABRIELA'S TOMATILLO SALSA
Recipe Introduction
When I was staying with Brooklyn, Gabriela made this salsa which we used on everything. She said she had never given the recipe to anyone..but it is so simple and good. Some serrano peppers are hotter than others, so you salsa will differ.
List of Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs. tomatillos
- 1 serrano chili
- 1 bunch cilantro
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Husk and wash tomatillos
- Put in pot and cover with water. (Gabriela had a pot that took the tomatillos in 1 layer)
- Cover with water.
- Simmer until tomatillos are slightly soft and begin to turn color.
- Lift from pan with slotted spoon into blender.
- Add serrano and cilantro leaves.
- Blend thoroughly.
- Add cooking water to make salsa thinner.
