    When cooking something that pops (grease) or splatters (sauces,
    before you start to cook, lay an overturned cookie sheet or
    jelly roll pan across the burners next to the pan. The cookie
    sheet, which is easy to clean, catches most of the grease,
    leaving the burner plates and stove-top relatively mess free.
