Overnight Spiced French Toast
9 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
6 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 loaf French bread cut into 1" slices
Recipe
In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract until well blended. Place the bread slices on a 10 x 15 inch baking sheet (or jelly roll pan) and slowly pour the batter over the bread. Turn the bread until it is well coated with batter. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
Fry in skillet over moderate heat until golden on both sides. Original recipes calls for frying in butter, but vegetable oil works fine. Leftovers can be frozen for up to one month.
