Recipe Introduction
Chocolate fondue is a great activity to do at a party because it is fun, easy to make, and tastes delicious! It is also a great way to have guests interact with one another at a party. Even those who don't know how to cook can simply dip and eat!
The word "fondue" is derived from the French word "fondre," which means to melt. Fondue has been popular at dinner parties since the 1950's. However, it first originated in Switzerland in the 19th century as a way of using up hardened cheese.
Variations of the original fondue recipe soon began showing up around the world including chocolate fondue in 1964. Fresh fruits such as bananas, strawberries, and tangerines are often used to dip in chocolate fondue as well as cubes of angel food cake, brownies, and marshmallows.
Celebrate National Chocolate Fondue Day by inviting some friends over to dip your favorite fruits and snacks into delicious chocolate fondue!

In a bowl, whisk together the sugar and cornstarch to blend. Slowly whisk in the cream; then the milk, coffee, cinnamon, and vanilla. Pour the mixture into a stainless steel saucepan and gently bring it to a boil. Cook, whisking, until thickened, about 4 minutes.
Remove the pan from the heat and whisk in the chocolate and butter until melted. Using a fine-meshed sieve over a large bowl, strain the chocolate mixture and discard the solids. Pour into a warmed fondue pot and serve with assorted dippers and fondue forks.
