Recipe Introduction
Butterscotch brownies, also known as “Blondies,” are the perfect treat to enjoy anytime of the day! They are chewy, rich, and delicious.
Though these desserts are considered a type of brownie, they do not have the typical chocolate flavor of a brownie. Generally butterscotch brownies have a vanilla or butterscotch flavor to them. They also have a texture similar to that of a cake.
Butterscotch candy became popular in the United States during the mid-19th century. Some cookbooks around this time began featuring recipes with butterscotch mixed with flour and baking powder. These baked goods were similar to butterscotch brownies as we know them today.
To make butterscotch brownies, you need flour, baking powder, salt, butter, brown sugar, vanilla extract, eggs, and butterscotch. Mix the ingredients together and then pour the batter into a pan. Bake them in the oven and then enjoy some warm butterscotch brownies on National Butterscotch Brownie Day!
