Recipe Introduction
It’s National Ice Cream Sandwich Day! On the beach or in an ice cream shop, anyone will devour this delicious sandwich.
Ice cream sandwiches come in many varieties. In its traditional form, vanilla ice cream is sandwiched between two thin chocolate layers made of a cake-like consistency. Other versions include chipwiches—ice cream between two chocolate chip cookies. Variations on the sandwich can also be found in different countries. The most popular Australian options are called “Giant Sandwiches” and “Maxibons.” In Scotland, ice cream sandwiches are called “sliders.” Still, the most exotic ice cream sandwiches might be found in Singapore, where red bean, yam and honeydew are all popular flavors.
To celebrate National Ice Cream Sandwich Day, visit the nearest ice cream truck or grocery store and get a giant ice cream sandwich.
