    Chocolate Macaroons


    1/2 cup margarine
    4 (1 oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate
    2 cups all-purpose flour
    2 teaspoons Baking Powder
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    2 cups granulated sugar
    4 eggs
    2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    1 cup flaked coconut

    Recipe







    In top of a double boiler, melt together chocolate and shortening; remove from heat and set aside. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. In a small bowl, combine chocolate and sugar. In a large bowl combine eggs and vanilla, beat well. Add chocolate mixture. Stir in flour mixture and blend thoroughly.

    Chill dough for at least 2 hours.

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

    Take dough by teaspoons and form round balls; rollin flaked coconut and place on greased cookie sheets for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool on wire racks.

    Yield: about 5 dozen cookies
