List of Ingredients
Sautéed Apples from David
4 medium tart apples, such as Fuji or Gala
6 t. butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 to 2 t. ground cinnamon
Recipe
Wash apples in cold water and pat dry. Cut them into quarters, and cut out the core. Slice each quarter lengthwise into 4 slices. Melt butter in medium skillet over medium heat.
Add apples and sugar and mix well. Sprinkle the apple slices with the desired amount of cinnamon. Reduce heat to medium low and continue cooking for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring frequently, until apples have reached the desired degree of doneness. The cooking time will vary depending on the variety of apples being used. When the apples are done, the butter and sugar mixture will have become a delicious syrup. Serve warm. Serves 4
This is so easy and pretty on the plate next to Cornish hens or chicken. Prepare apples in advance and then just before serving, warm them in the microwave at medium setting to prevent overcooking. Double or triple the recipe so that you can serve this the next night over ice cream. It's delicious!
