Recipe Introduction
What better way to celebrate Earth Day than with a delicious dessert that looks like an earthworm's paradise? For best results, make this classic recipe in a glass pot or vase so the gummy worms show through. For a finishing touch, plant a plastic flower (with the stem wrapped in plastic wrap) in the “dirt.”
List of Ingredients
Dirt Pudding
1 (16-ounce) bag chocolate sandwich cookies
2 cups cold milk
1 (4-ounce) package chocolate instant pudding
1 (8-ounce) tub whipped topping (thawed)
1/2 pound gummy worms
Equipment:
Food processor
Bowl
Electric hand mixer or wire whisk
Clean glass flowerpot or vase
Plastic wrap (optional)
Plastic flower (optional)
Recipe
Crush the cookies in the food processor. Pour cold milk and pudding mix into a bowl and beat it with a hand mixer or whisk for two minutes. Let this stand for about five minutes until set. Stir in the whipped topping and half of the crushed cookies.
If there is a hole in the pot, line the bottom with plastic wrap. Add the pudding mixture to the pot. Push the gummy worms into the pudding along the sides so they show through the glass. Save about five of them for the top. Top the pudding mixture with the remaining cookie crumbs.
Plant the five gummy worms in the crumbs so it looks like they're crawling out of the dirt. Wrap the end of the flower in plastic wrap and stick it in the pot.
