Chopped Steak over Mashed Potatoes
1 lb. lean ground beef
1/4 cup flour
1 cup water
1 t. Kitchen bouquet

Brown beef in skillet by crumbling it and stirring over medium heat until it is no longer red. Drain off fat, retaining about 1 T. Mix flour and water in a glass measuring cup until well mixed. Add to meat. Cook,
stirring occasionally, until mixture has thickened. Add Kitchen Bouquet. If gravy is too thick, add more water. If not thick enough, mix a little more flour with just a little water and add until the desired consistency. Serve over cooked mashed potatoes.
Tip: When making instant
mashed potatoes, add a beaten egg and just a little sour cream. This gives them a better flavor and texture and takes the edge off the packaged taste. Variation: Add mushrooms and/or onions and garlic to the gravy.
Serve this same meat topping on baked potatoes instead of mashed.
