Open-Faced Cheese Dogs from David
2 (3/4-inch-thick) slices French Bread
2 tsp. prepared mustard (or whatever condiments you like on your hot dogs)
2 hot dogs, cut in half lengthwise
1 (3/4 oz) slice American cheese, halved
2 TBSP pickle relish (optional)
Recipe
Spread French bread slices with mustard (or any condiment). Place hot dogs halves, cut side down, over mustard on brad slices. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Broil 4 to 6 inches from heat for 3 to 4 minutes or until hot.
Remove from broiler. Place half slice of cheese on each sandwich. Broil an additional 1 to 2 minutes or until cheese is melted. Top with relish and serve.
