    Crispy Crunchy Crouton Sticks from David


    8 oz. loaf French baguette
    1/2 cup butter
    1 T. fresh basil, chopped
    1/4 t. garlic powder
    \1/8 t. onion salt

    Recipe





    Slice baguette in half horizontally; cut widthwise into one inch wide sticks.Set aside. Melt butter in a 12 inch skillet; stir in basil, garlic powder and onion salt. Add half the croton sticks; sauté until coated. Arrange in a single layer in an ungreased jelly roll pan; repeat with remaining crouton sticks. Bake at 300 for 25 to 30 minutes. Flip croton sticks halfway through baking. Cool completely. Store in an airtight container up to 3 days or freeze up to 3 months.

    Makes 2 dozen.
