    Fudge Cups


    Shell
    1 cup sugar
    1/2 cup butter or margarine softened
    1 egg
    2 ounces (2 squares) unsweetened chocolate; melted, cooled
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla
    1 3/4 cup all purpose flour

    Filling
    1 1/2 cups sugar
    1 1/2 ounce (1 1/2 squares) unsweetened chocolate cut into pieces
    1/3 cup milk
    1/4 cup butter or margarine
    3 tablespoons corn syrup
    1/8 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon vanilla

    Recipe




    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Grease miniature muffin cups or line with paper baking cups.

    In large bowl, cream 1 cup sugar and 1/2 cup butter till light and fluffy.

    Blend in egg; beat well.

    Stir in 2 ounces chocolate, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla; mix
    well.

    Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off.

    Blend in flour, mix well.

    Shape dough into 1 inch balls.

    Press ball in bottom and up sides of prepared muffin cups.

    Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.

    Cool 5 to 10 minutes; remove from pan with small spatula.

    In small saucepan over low heat, combine all filling ingredients except
    vanilla and cook until chocolate is melted, stirring occasionally.

    Bring mixture to a boil; boil 1 minute.

    Remove from heat; stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla.

    Beat to cool slightly; spoon into cups.

    Makes 48 pieces.
