    Martha Washington Candy

    Source of Recipe

    Marla

    Recipe Introduction

My aunt made this candy every Christmas when I was a little girl. I looked so forward to going to her house. She would eliminate the coconut and nuts and color some of it green, using mint flavoring. She had a variety, including pink with chopped cherries. She even made solid chocolate ones. The sky is the limit with this recipe. I think you will like it although it is not her original, it is pretty much the same recipe.

    List of Ingredients

    Martha Washington Candy

    1 pkg. coconut (sm.)
    2 c. chopped nuts
    1 can Eagle Brand milk
    1 stick butter
    2 lbs. powdered sugar, sifted

    Recipe

Melt butter. Mix all ingredients well and roll into small balls. Put in refrigerator for about 30 minutes. Using Wilton's candy dipper or toothpicks, dip balls in chocolate mixture (below)

1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
    1/8 lb. paraffin wax

Melt in double boiler and dip balls in. Place balls on waxed paper until chocolate has thickened
