    Strawberry Tips

    Recipe

Slice strawberries with an egg slicer. You will have all uniform
slices. Bobbi, Summerville, SC new (Added: 12-Apr-2004)

Take off leaves and wash. Place upside down whole on a paper towel
on a plate. Put into the refrigerator. They will last for several
days like this. Linda Hicks, Atlantic City NJ new (Added: 16-Jan-
    2006)

Sprinkle a little Splenda on sliced strawberries instead of sugar.
They seem to stay fresh longer. Joy in Delaware new (Added: 23-Feb-
    2006)

Any time when you have to much soft fruit like strawberries and don't
know what to do with them, liquify them with a little sugar and
freeze. Use as a sorbet or compote with desserts like chocolate
cake. Richard. K -Famous Horserace, England new (Added: 24-Apr-2005)

For strawberries and cream, the best way to present the strawberries
is to cut off the top and stalk, then quarter them from top to
bottom (customers at my hotel find them most pleasing presented in
this way). For the cream and a dash of brandy, some caster sugar and
a little cinnamon and whip until stiff. Richard. K -Famous Horserace, England
    new (Added: 24-Apr-2005)

Sort and remove any bruised or damaged berries as soon as possible,
being in contact with spoiled fruit can cause good fruit to go bad
    quicker. FabulousFoods.com new (Added: 25-Aug-2003)

Hull strawberries and rinse gently right before serving. Careful
storing and handling will help the berries maintain maximum flavor,
color and texture. FabulousFoods.com new (Added: 25-Aug-2003)
Use individual frozen strawberries as cubes in a fancy drink or
    cocktail. FabulousFoods.com new (Added: 25-Aug-2003)

Put ordinary drinking straws to good use. To hull strawberries, use
a sturdy plastic straw. Push it up through the bottom of the
strawberry and through the top. It does a great job quickly and
neatly. The berries look excellent if you want to leave them whole.
Betty Boop, Caldwell, ID new (Added: 25-Aug-2003)

Place the berries in cool, well ventilated containers (32 to 40 F /
0 to 5 C). The moisture content of fresh strawberries is high, so
    store uncovered or loosely covered.
