To peel a tomato, cut an X through the skin at the tip, cut out the navel (where the stem was attached) and immerse it in boiling water for 10 seconds. Remove from water with a slotted spoon and lift off the loosened skin with a paring knife. This will also work for peeling peaches but takes about 20 to 30 seconds if they are ripe. To remove seeds from a tomato cut it in half along the equator, squeeze slightly and flick your wrist rapidly downward to shake out the seeds. It is best to do this over a sink.
