    How to saute

    Recipe

Sauté means "to jump" in French. Sautéing is a fast cooking technique that requires a small amount of oil or butter in a shallow pan over high heat.

    Different foods to Sauté
You may sauté vegetables, meats, poultry, or seafood. Be sure the ingredients are cut to roughly the same size to ensure that they cook evenly.

    Tips for preparing sautéed foods

Make sure your pan is wide enough to sauté without overcrowding
When sautéing meat, bring it to room temperature first, about 30 minutes before you plan to start cooking
A nonstick pan cuts down the amount of fat needed to coat your sauté pan to prevent sticking
