    Recipe Introduction

Tuba (Latin for "trumpet") is the lowest pitched of the brass wind instruments. It was patented in 1835 by the Prussian bandmaster Friedrich Wieprecht and the German builder Johann Moritz. A variation was created by German composer Richard Wagner for his Ring cycle of operas - and John Philip Sousa commissioned a version for his march music that is now called the sousaphone. While the basic design remains the same, the number of different types of tubas today is amazing.

    Tuba Players Festival Baked Garlic

    THE GARLIC-EATING TUBA TROUBADOURS

First they eat the garlic and then they play their tubas with wild abandon. Their hearty efforts perfume the air of beautiful downtown Stroudsburg! This eclectic group of tuba players from all over the East Coast gathers annually at the Pocono Garlic Festival. They'll play all your old time favorites in their unique style, but only after wolfing down their garlic.

    Recipe

Place whole bulb of garlic on cookie sheet, cover with olive oil and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Save the oil for salads or saute.
