Homemade Yogurt
1 qt. milk
1 egg
1 C. half and half
1/2 pt sour cream
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp lemon juice
pinch of salt
Recipe
Place milk and half and half in pan and place in 250 degree oven
until it forms a skin. Set aside and cool to lukewarm.
Beat egg, add sugar, salt and sour cream and beat. Pour cool
milk to sour cream mixture, tablespoon at a time until well mixed.
Add lemon juice and beat well.
Put into mixing bowl and place on top of warm stove covered with
a heavy dish towel.
When set, place in refrigerator until thick (2-3 hours). Then
cut three times in center with a knife.
Put clean white folded damp towel and set back into refrigerator.
Let sit overnight and if water forms on top, rinse towel and place
back on bowl. Repeat until all water is gone.
If you prefer a thinner texture, do not cut with knife and do not
use towel.
