    Not So Quick Rice Krispie Bars

    1/4 cup margarine
    4 cups marshmallows
    4 cups rice krispies

    1 can sweetened condensed milk
    14 oz pkg caramels, unwrapped
    1/4 cup butter

    1/4 cup margarine
    4 cups marshmallows
    4 cups rice krispies

    Recipe



    Unwrap caramels and mix with sweetened condensed milk and butter (or margarine) and melt (I use microwave) until smooth.
    Heat first set of margarine & marshmallows til melted and smooth, add rice krispies, pat in greased 9 x 13 pan. Spread melted caramel mix over krispies, stick in the freezer (to set a little) until you melt second set of marmallows, margarine, add krispies, put on top of caramel layer. Then store at room temp.
    Now, for my tweaking. I add another cup or 2 of rice krispies to each layer, and pat in 10 x 15 pan because we like a thinner bar, then I only use half of the caramel mix because it is just too gooey. Save the other half in plastic dish in the fridge to use for another pan, it will keep at least a month, or make two pans and freeze one, use within a month.
