    Dutch Apple Hot Bread

    1 cup scalded milk
    1/3 cup butter
    1/3 cup sugar
    ½ teaspoon salt
    2 eggs
    1 package yeast
    ¼ cup lukewarm water
    3½ cups flour (about)
    3 to 4 apples

    Recipe



    Add milk, sugar, butter and salt to scalded milk. Cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Add beaten eggs. Combine with first mixture. Add flour to make very stiff batter. Cover batter and set in warm place to rise till double.

    Work down, then spread in a greased baking pan to a depth of ¾ to 1 inch. Brush with butter and let rise again. Peel apples and slice. Arrange slices on dough, pressing in slightly. Sprinkle with a mixture of ¼ cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Bake in a moderate oven, (350 to 375° F.) about 30 minutes.
