List of Ingredients
Indian Fry Bread
1 cup warm water (100 to 115 degrees F)
1 and 1/2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
3 to 3-1/2 cups flour
1 package active dry yeast
1 Tablespoon Sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
Vegetable oil for deep fat frying
Recipe
Combine water, oil, sugar and yeast in a bowl and let sit for 5 minutes for the yeast to dissolve.
In a separate bowl, combine 3 cups of flour and the salt. Then add the yeast mixture to the flour mixture and stir it until it becomes a soft dough. Add more flour if necessary.
On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough 6 or 7 times. Then turn the bowl over the dough and lit it sit for 45 minutes.
In a large skillet, heat about 1 inch of oil to 375 degrees F.
On a floured surface, roll out the dough with a rolling pin until it is roughly a 14 inch square. Cut this into about 16 3-1/2 inch squares. Fry these dough squares in the oil until golden, about 3 minutes on each side.
