    Fruit Mixture
    2 cups raspberries (or any other fruit such
    as chopped apples, apricots, peaches or
    pineapple).
    1 tbsp. lemon juice
    3 tbsp. cornstarch
    1/2 cup sugar

    Batter
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 cup margarine
    1/2 cup milk
    1/2 cup sugar
    1 1/2 cups flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/8 tsp. ground mace
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    1/2 tsp. vanilla

    Crumbs
    2 tbsp. margarine
    1/4 cup sugar
    1/4 cup flour
    1/4 cup shopped walnuts.

    Recipe



    In medium pan combine fruit and ½ cup water. Simmer, covered for 5 minutes, or until fruit is tender. Stir in lemon juice. Mix the ½ cup sugar and cornstarch, stir into fruit mix. Cook until thickened and cool.

    In medium bowl, stir 1½ cups flour, ½ cup sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, mace and ¼ tsp. salt. Cut in ½ cup margarine until mix resembles fine crumbs. Combine egg, milk and vanilla. Add to the flour mixture until blended. Spread ½ of batter into greased 9" x 9" x 2" pan. Spread cooled fruit over batter. Spread remaining batter over fruit. Combine the ¼ cup sugar and ¼ cup flour. Cut in 2-tbsp. margarine until mix resembles course crumbs. Stir in the nuts. Sprinkle over batter and bake at 350° F for 40-50 minutes or until done.
