1 cup flour, ¾ cup sugar
2 Tbsp. cocoa
2 tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. Salt, ½ cup milk
2 Tbsp. melted butter
½ cup walnuts or pecans
1 tsp. Vanilla
Toppings:
½ cup brown sugar
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 cup hot water
½ cup sugar
Mix cake ingredients together. Pour into a greased 8X8 inch baking dish. To make the topping, mix both sugars and cocoa together. Sprinkle this over the cake batter. Pour the water over the batter and sugar mixture. DO NOT STIR. Bake at 350 for 30 to 35 minutes. Serve hot, great with ice cream.
This is great in a #10 Dutch Oven. Put 5 coals on the bottom and 15 on the top. Cook for about 40 minutes. You can also double the recipe and cook in a #12 Dutch oven or a 13x9 pan.
