    Recipe Introduction

Everybody always wants to know "where do you get your recipes? The answer is quite simple -- from people who like to cook, just like you. You'll find five distinctive flavors at the end of this recipe. The special glaze is, so to speak, the icing on the cake.

    List of Ingredients

    Cake:
    2 sticks butter or margarine
    1/2 cup vegetable shortening
    3 cups sugar
    3 cups all purpose flour
    1/2 tsp baking powder
    6 eggs, beaten
    1 cup milk
    1 tsp coconut extract
    1 tsp butter extract
    1 tsp lemon extract
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    1 tsp rum flavoring

    Glaze:
    1 cup sugar
    1/2 cup water
1 tsp of each flavoring: coconut, rum, butter, lemon, vanilla

    Recipe

Cake: Cream butter, shortening, and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs which have been beaten and thick and lemon colored, about 5 minutes. Combine flour and baking powder, then add creamed mixture alternating with milk (begin with flour, end with flour). Add flavoring. Spoon mixture into greased 10 inch tube pan and bake at 325 degrees for about 1 1/2 hours until tested done.

Add a glaze after it has cooled in pan for about 10 minutes.

Glaze: Combine in a saucepan, boil it. Stir until sugar is melted, then spoon slowly over hot cake in oven. Let the cake set until cool.
