Makes: 9-12 servings
1-1/4 (8 ounces) chopped dates
1 cup water, boiling
1 cup oleo, softened
1-1/4 cups sugar
2 eggs
1-3/4 cups flour
1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 (6-ounce) package chocolate chips, divided
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Recipe
Mix 1-1/4 c. (8 ounces) chopped dates in 1 cup boiling water. Beat until creamy, the softened oleo, sugar, and eggs. Sift and stir in gradually the flour and baking soda. Stir in date mixture, vanilla and half of the 6-ounce package of chocolate chips.
Spread into a greased and floured 9x13 inch pan. Top with remaining chocolate chips and 1/2 c. chopped nuts. Bake in 350-degree oven for about 30 min.
