    1 c. hot unseasoned mashed potatoes
    2 c. sugar
    2/3 c. shortening
    4 eggs, unbeaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    1/2 c. milk
    1/2 c. cocoa
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. chopped walnuts

    Recipe



    Heat oven to 350 degrees. Line bottoms of two 9-inch layer
    pans or 13 x 9 x 2-inch oblong pan with waxed paper cut to fit.
    Prepare mashed potatoes. (Easier way: follow directions for 2 servings on package of mashed potatoes.) Measure; set aside.
    Gradually beat sugar into shortening until fluffy. Add eggs,
    one at a time, beating well. Add vanilla and potatoes. Add
    sifted dry ingredients and milk alternately, about 1/4 of each at a time, beating smooth. Stir in walnuts.
    Bake layers 40 to 45 minutes, loaf 50 minutes. Stand 5 minutes. Place on rack; peel off paper. Cool. Frost with Buttercream or other frostings.
    Sprinkle thickly with walnuts.
