    CANE SYRUP COOKIES

    1 cup shortening
    2 cups sugar
    2 cups pure cane syrup
    2 cups raisins (optional)
    4 eggs
    1 cup boiling water with 1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in hot water
    (cool before adding)
    7 cups flour


    Recipe


    Mix in order given: Shortening, sugar, syrup, boiling water,
    raisins, eggs and flour. Drop by spoonfuls on ungreased cookie
    sheet.

    Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until brown around
    edges. Do not over bake or they will be tough.

    NOTE: you can add ginger and/or cinnamon if you like, depending on taste
