    MARINARA SAUCE

    Yield: 6 servings, 1/2 cup each

    INGREDIENTS

    - 2 teaspoons olive oil
    - 2 cloves garlic, minced
    - 1 small onion, diced
    - 1 (16 ounce) can tomatoes, with their liquid
    - 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
    - 2 teaspoons sugar
    - 2 tablespoons minced fresh basil
    - Salt and pepper to taste

    DIRECTIONS

    In a medium saucepan over medium heat, heat the oil.
    Add the garlic and onion and saute for 3 minutes.

    Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Lower
    the heat and simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes until thick.
