    1-cake dry yeast
    1/4-cup lukewarm water
    1/2-cup mashed potatoes
    1/4-cup shortening
    1 1/2-tsp salt
    1/4-cup sugar
    1-cup milk
    1-egg
    4 to 4 1/2 cups flour

    Recipe



    Add yeast to water. Combine potatoes, shortening, salt, sugar and milk; add yeast mixture and egg. Stir in 2 cups flour; add remaining flour. Knead on bread board 8 to 10 minutes. Let rise till double in size in a warm place. Punch down; shape into balls. Let rise 10 minutes more; shape into rolls. Let rise until double in size. Bake at 375º for 15 to 25 minutes.
