    HAMBURGER STEAK WITH GRAVY (Tuesday)
    Makes 4 servings

    Preparation time: 15 minutes

    Cooking time: about 15 minutes

    2 honey-wheat or whole-wheat bread slices

    1 pound ground round beef

    1 lightly beaten egg

    2 cloves minced garlic

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1/4 teaspoon pepper

    1 (1.2-ounce) envelope brown gravy mix

    1 1/2 cups water

    1 tablespoon canola oil

    Process bread slices in a food processor 10 seconds or until finely chopped. Place crumbs in a large bowl; add beef, egg, garlic, salt and pepper. Gently combine until blended. Shape into 4 (4-inch) patties. Whisk together gravy mix and water; set aside.

    In a large nonstick skillet, heat oil on medium-high. Cook patties 2 minutes on each side or just until browned. Remove from skillet. Stir in prepared gravy and bring to a simmer. Return patties to skillet and spoon gravy over each patty. Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer 8 to 10 minutes or until cooked through.

    Per serving: 337 calories, 27 grams protein, 18 grams fat (48 percent calories from fat), 5 grams saturated fat, 16 grams carbohydrate, 118 milligrams cholesterol, 910 milligrams sodium, 1 gram fiber.
