    4 servings
    1 pound extra-lean ground beef (see note)
    1 egg white
    1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
    1/4 cup plain bread crumbs
    1 teaspoon onion powder
    1 teaspoon garlic powder
    1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    4 hamburger buns
    Condiments of choice, such as mustard and ketchup





    Recipe



    Place beef, egg white, parmesan cheese, bread crumbs, onion powder, garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce in a small mixing bowl and mix thoroughly. Shape into four patties. Press each patty firmly between two sheets of wax paper, or use a hamburger press.

    Grill or pan-fry to desired doneness (about 4 minutes per side for medium). Serve immediately on hamburger buns, with condiments of choice.

    Note: Ground beef labeled "extra-lean" can vary in its fat content, but it's usually from 93 percent to 97 percent lean.

    Per serving (without condiments): 318 calories (28 percent from fat), 10 g fat (4 g saturated), 64 mg cholesterol, 30 g protein, 28 g carbohydrates, 2 g dietary fiber, 468 mg sodium.
