Description
My Great Grandmother's recipe.
Ingredients
1 pound elbow macaroni
24 oz crushed tomatoes
2 pound package shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 stick butter
Salt & Pepper to taste
1/2 cup milk or cream
1 package of Saltines in a 4 package box
Directions
Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Cook macaroni a little more than half way, pour into colander (do not rinse). In 3quart oven bowl, make a layer of macaroni, salt and pepper. Cut butter into chunks and place 5 chunks evenly over macaroni. Spread sharp cheese and tomatoes all over macaroni. Continue layering until you have used all macaroni and other toppings. Pour milk or cream into side of bowl until you can see milk between macaroni at top. Crush saltines and cover top completely. Bake 350F degree oven. Bake for 45 minutes. Makes 5 to 6 servings. For a change you can also layer browned and seasoned ground beef and onions.
