Blackened Tilapia Sandwich with Homemade Herbed Mayo
(1) 5-7 ounce tilapia filet per sandwich
Blackening Season (recipe to follow)
Roll or Bun of Choice (we use a cornmeal dusted Kaiser roll)
Lettuce, Tomato, Onion or other toppings
Dressing or condiment of choice (we suggest our homemade herbed mayo)
1 tsp butter and pan release spray
Blackening Season:
2 teaspoons ground paprika
2 teaspoons dried thyme
2 teaspoons onion powder
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons black pepper
1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper, or to your taste
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
Dust the tilapia filet with the blackening season and let rest for 2-3 minutes. Spray sauté pan with pan release spray and melt butter over medium heat. Once butter is melted, place tilapia filet in pan and allow to cook for 3 to 4 minutes then turn and repeat for an additional 3-4 minutes. You may want to allow the fish to brown a little more, depending on your preference. Fish will be white and flaky in the center when it is thoroughly cooked.
Place the blackened tilapia filet on prepared bun and enjoy!
