SUMMER PITA POCKET SANDWICHES
1 pound lean ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, crushed
2 tablespoons oil
2 medium tomatoes, chopped, or 1 cup canned tomatoes, chopped
1/2 cup raisins
1/4 cup slivered almonds
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vinegar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon pepper
4 (4-inch) pita breads, halved crosswise
Recipe
In a skillet cook beef, stirring to break up all the pieces. Remove from
skillet and drain off fat.
In the same skillet, saute the onion and garlic 5 minutes. Stir in tomatoes
and beef, stir well, and blend in the remaining ingredients. Simmer 20
minutes more or until the liquid is absorbed. Spoon into pita halves.
Serves 4.
