    BEER CHEESE SOUP:

    1 clove garlic minced $ .10

    2 carrots finely chopped .15

    2 celery stalks finely chopped .20

    1 small onion finely chopped .40

    4 T. butter .24

    1 cup hot milk .46

    1 cup flat beer .35

    2 cups chicken broth free

    8 oz. (2 cups) grated cheddar cheese .62

    3 t. flour .05

    Total for 8 servings: $2.57

    Saute garlic, carrots;, celery and onion in butter until soft. remove begetables from the butter with a slotted spoon, whirl in a blender and reserve. Add flourto pan with the butter and make a roux. Slowly add milk, beer and chicken broth whisk until smooth, and add the cheese and stir till melted, add the vegetable mixture and serve hot. Makes 8 servings.
