Elvis Presley's Favorite Pound Cake
3 cups sugar
1 pound butter, softened
7 eggs, at room temp
3 cups cake flour, sifted twice
1 cup heavy cream
2 teaspoons vanilla
Butter and flour a 10 inch tube pan.
Cream together the sugar and butter. Add eggs one at a time, beating extremely well after each addition. Mix in 1/2 flour and 1/2 whipping cream then add other 1/2 flour and whipping cream. Beat for full 5 minutes. Add Vanilla.
Pour into pan. Place in cold oven. Turn oven to 350 degrees F and bake for 1 hour to 70 minutes until sharp knife inserted comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes and remove from pan.
Cook's Note: Scott, my son-in-law, made this for Labor Day and it was the best pound cake I have every tasted!!!!
