    Another Sunday dinner family favorite!

    List of Ingredients




    3 to 4 lb. beef pot roast
    2 Tbs. shortening
    Flour
    Salt and pepper
    Water
    8 small potatoes, peeled and quartered
    6 medium sized carrots, sliced in half lengthwise
    8 small onions, peeled

    Recipe



    Coat beef pot roast with flour.
    In a Dutch oven, large skillet or roasting pan,
    brown slowly on all sides in 2 Tbs. hot shortening.
    Season with salt and pepper.
    Remove from heat, then add 1/2 cup water.
    Cover tightly and cook slowly 2 1/2 hours or till tender.
    Add more water if needed to prevent sticking.

    Add potatoes, onions and carrots during
    the last 45 to 60 minutes of cooking.

    Thicken juices in pan for pot roast gravy.

    Makes 6 to 8 servings.
