List of Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 2 (15 oz.) can diced tomatoes (i use tomatoes and green chilies)
- 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
- 4 (15 oz.) kidney beans
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. chili powder (add more if desired)
- spaghetti (optional--use for cincinnati style)
- shredded cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Brown meat in skillet--drain.
- Chop onion, add to meat in skillet--continue to brown.
- Add tomato sauce to skillet and simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a large pot, add beans, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, salt, and chili powder. Boil for 5 minutes.
- Add ingredients from skillet to pot.
- Simmer on low heat for 45 minutes or more.
- Stir occassionally
- Cincinnati style: serve chili over spaghetti and then add shredded cheese on top to melt.
Final Comments
The longer you cook this, the better it tastes. I am sure you can do this in a crock pot, I have just not figured out how long you can cook it.
