Recipe Introduction
The zesty, intriguing flavor of this punch is due to Japanese green tea and fresh ginger root. Recipe can be doubled or tripled, as this only makes about 7 six ounce servings.
List of Ingredients
1 quart grapefruit soda
2 c. boiling water
1 T. green tea leaves (or 2 green tea bags)
2 T. sugar
3 T. thawed frozen orange juice concentrate (undiluted)
1-inch piece of fresh ginger root, peeled and cut into a few chunks.
Recipe
Several hours or the night before serving, freeze half of the soda into cubes. Pour the boiling water over the tea leaves/bags and steep for 5 minutes. Strain, if needed. Stir in the 2 T. sugar; cover and chill thoroughly.
To make punch, pour oj concentrate into a 2-quart pitcher. Using a garlic press or fine wire strainer, press juice from the ginger into pitcher (about 1/2 t. juice). Pour in tea and grapefruit-soda ice cubes; stir in remaining 2 c. chilled soda.
