    Old Fashioned Tomato Spice Cake

    Hunts tomato sauce

    Recipe Introduction


    This has been an unusual favorite in our household for over 25 years. I use loaf pans instead of layer pans, and slice thin.

    List of Ingredients




    2 c. flour
    1 c. sugar
    1 t. baking powder
    1 t. cinnamon
    1/2 t. nutmeg
    1/2 t. cloves
    1/2 t. salt
    1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
    1 t. baking soda
    1 egg, beaten
    1/2 c. vegetable oil
    1 c. chopped nuts (I use walnuts)
    1 c. raisins

    Recipe



    Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, spices and salt. Dissolve baking soda in tomato sauce and add to dry mixture. Add egg, oil, nuts, raisins. Mix well. Pour into 2 greased 8-inch layer pans. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Cool layers and frost with cream cheese frosting.
