    Chocolate Cherry Dessert

    1 pound chocolate covered graham cookies, crushed
    1 cup butter or margerine, melted
    2 envelopes whipped topping mix
    1 cup cold milk
    1 ts. vanilla
    1 pkg.(8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
    2 cans (21 oz.) cherry pie filling

    Set aside 1/4 cup crushed cookies for top. Combine remaining cookies with butter; spread into a 9x13x2 pan. Set aside. In a mixing bowl combine whipped topping mixes, milk, and vanilla; beat on low until blended. Beat on high until stiff peaks form, about 4 minutes. Add cream cheese; beat until smooth. Spread over crust; top with pie filling. Sprinkle with reserved cookie crumbs. Refrigerate for about 6 hours or overnight before serving.
