SuperDuper French Toast
I made this breakfast at my "Gathering of the Nuts" party.
Family and friends ate breakfast, then all went out to gather pecans in my yard. It is a recipe that lets you have time with your family and not be rushed.
List of Ingredients
6 eggs, beaten
2/3 cups orange juice
1/3 cup Grand Marnier (or use all orange juice)
1/3 cup milk
3T sugar
1/4t vanilla
1/4t salt
finely grated peel of 1 orange
8 slices French bread, cut 3/4" thick
3-4T butter
Powdered sugarRecipe
In a large bowl, beat eggs and add other ingredients.
Dip bread into egg mixture, coating all surfaces. Transfer
to a baking dish in a single layer. Pour remaining egg
mixture on top. Cover and refrigerate overnight, turning
once or twice. May be flash frozen at this point, and put in plastic bags until needed.
Melt butter over medium heat and cook until browned, about
8 minutes.
Arrage on platter and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Serve immediately with butter and syrup.
NOTE: If cooking for a crowd, place toast on a cookie
sheet. Heat oven to 425 degrees F., brush with melted
butter. Bake 10 minutes, turn, brush with more butter, and bake 5-10 minutes more.
