    Recipe Introduction


    Used each Easter morning after church for our traditional Slovak/Italian breakfast. Although we may have added a lot of things over the years, the recipes remained in tacted.


    List of Ingredients


    • 1/4 Cup Lukewarm water
    • 1 Cake yeast or 2 packages of dry yeast
    • 1 teaspoon Sugar
    • 1/2 Cup Sugar
    • 4 Cups Flour
    • 1 1/4 Cup Scalded milk
    • 4 egg yolks
    • 1/2 Cup Butter melted
    • 1 teaspoon Salt
    • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Rind or 2 teaspoons lemon juice


    Instructions


    1. Add Scalded milk and 1 cup of the flour. Stir until it is hard. Set aside to cool.
    2. Disolve yeast in the lukewarm water and add the sugar.
    3. Add yeast mixture to the flour mixture and let rise.
    4. Beat egg yolks with sugar until they are a lemon color.
      Add melted butter, three cups flour, salt, lemon rind.
    5. Mix well with first flour mixture and kneed.
    6. Butter pan and bake 350 degrees for 1 hour.
