    1/4 cup butter
    1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips, divided
    3/4 cup sugar
    2/3 cup flour
    1/2 tsp vanilla
    1/4 tsp baking powder
    1/4 tsp salt
    2 eggs
    1/4 cup chopped nuts if desired

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom only of a 8x8x2 pan.

    Put butter and 1 cup of chocolate chips in a medium microwave safe bowl. Microwave one minute at a time, stirring after each minute until chips are melted, about 1-2 minutes.

    Stir in flour, sugar, vanilla, baking powder, salt and eggs until smooth. Stir in nuts and remaining chocolate chips. (I added some Heath bits I found in my cupboard too).

    Bake until center is set, about 30 minutes. Let brownies cool completly before cutting. Store tightly covered.
