- 1-1/2 cups cornmeal
- 1 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1-1/2 cups buttermilk
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Grease cast iron corn stick pans with shortening. Place in oven and heat.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine cornmeal, baking powder, soda, sugar, and salt; mix well. Stir in buttermilk and egg. Fill corn stick pans two-thirds full.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve hot.
