White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Drop Scone

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup plus 2 T sugar, divided
- 1 1/2 tsps baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 6 T unsalted butter, cut into pieces
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped macadamia nuts
- 2/3 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, 1/3 cup sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add white chocolate chips and macadamia nuts; mix well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, egg, and vanilla extract. Add buttermilk mixture to flour mixture, stirring until dough is just combined.
- Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto prepared baking sheets; sprinkle with remaining sugar. Bake for 14 to 16 minutes, or until lightly browned.
