Recipe Introduction
Two layers of oaty goodness surroudning a traditional fudge brownie layer got a top score from testers.
List of Ingredients
- 2 cups uncooked quick-cooking oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, melted
- 1 3/4 cups semisweet mini chocolate chips
- 1 (19 to 21 oz) pkg fudge brownie mix, prepared according to pkg directions
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large bowl combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, walnuts, and baking soda. Beat in the ubtter until the mixture forms coarse crumbs. Stir in the chocolate chips and mix well.
- Reserve 3 cups of the mixture. Pat the remaining mixture onto the bottom of a 15 x 10-inch jelly roll pan to form the crust.
- Pour the prepared brownie mix over the crust, spreading it into a thin layer.
- Sprinkle the reserved crumb mixture over the top of the brownie mixture; pat down lightly.
- Bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out with moist crumbs. Cool completely. Cut into bars.
