    List of Ingredients


    • 1/2 cup shortening
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 2 eggs slightly beaten
    • 1 1/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 cup milk
    • 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts
    • juice of 1 lemon
    • 1/4 cup sugar


    Instructions


    1. Cream the shortening with 1 cup sugar. Mix in the eggs.
    2. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt.
    3. Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to
      the shortening mixture; stirring constantly. Mix in the nuts. Pour in to a greased 9 by 5 inch loaf pan.
    4. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.
    5. Remove from the oven. Poke holes in the top of the cake with a fork.
    6. Combine the lemon juice and 1/4 cup of sugar. Pour over the cake.
