    Maple Butter Pecan Shortbread

    • 1/2 cup LAND O LAKES® Butter -- softened
    • 1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • Topping Ingredients:
    • 1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
    • 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
    • 1 egg
    • 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans


    Instructions


    1. Heat oven to 350°F.
    2. Combine butter and 1/3 cup brown sugar in small mixer
      bowl.
    3. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy.
    4. Reduce speed to low; add flour. Beat, scraping bowl often, until mixture forms a dough.

    5. Press evenly into ungreased 8-inch square baking pan. Prick with fork. Bake for 20 minutes.

    6. Meanwhile, combine 1/3 cup brown sugar, maple syrup and egg in small bowl; mix well.
    7. Spread topping over hot, partially baked shortbread; sprinkle with pecans. Continue baking for 12 to 16 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately run knife around edges to loosen. Cool completely. Cut into bars.
